Max Karpman (left) is a filmmaker who was born in New Jersey, but spent most of his childhood in Moscow, Russia, and then a few of his adolescent years in the suburbs of Miami and Seattle, in that order. His experiences growing up in this strange concoction of cultures is what made Max choose to pursue filmmaking.
In 2024, Max graduated from Chapman University’s Dodge College with a degree in documentary film. During his senior year, he directed two movies: a hybrid documentary/narrative about his great-grandfather’s memoirs and a film about American hostage Marc Fogel, who was a teacher at Max’s school in Moscow.
Max is not sure where he will go from here, but for now, you can find him in Los Angeles.
